Image Licensing from The Wall Archive
These Terms and Conditions govern the purchase, download, and use of images licensed through The Wall Archive.
By purchasing or downloading an image, you agree to the following licensing terms and conditions.
1. License Types and Usage Rights
The Wall Archive offers four license categories:
Personal Use License (£9.99)
Permitted Uses
- Print at home for personal display
- Use as a digital screensaver, desktop background, or slideshow
- Create one-off personal gifts (e.g., calendar, card, framed print)
Restrictions
- No resale, redistribution, or publication
- No commercial or promotional use
Editorial Use License (£29.99)
Permitted Uses
- Use in newspapers, magazines, blogs, online articles, educational projects (both print & digital)
- Use in non-commercial presentations and teaching resources
Restrictions
- Cannot be used in paid advertising, product packaging, or resale merchandise
- Must include credit: Photo © The Wall Archive wherever used
Best for: Journalists, educators, historians, and publishers
Commercial Use License (£149.99)
Permitted Uses
- Advertising campaigns (print, online, outdoor, broadcast)
- Product packaging and branding
- Business websites, marketing materials, social media campaigns
- Merchandise (e.g. posters, T-shirts, mugs, calendars)
- Film, TV, and video production
Restrictions
- Cannot resell, transfer, or redistribute the original image file
- Must not claim authorship of the image
Best for: Businesses, publishers, design agencies, marketing firms
Exclusive Rights License (£399.99)
Permitted Uses
- Full commercial rights as listed above
- Exclusive usage – the image will be removed from further sale on The Wall Archive
- Suitable for book covers, premium campaigns and branding projects requiring exclusivity
Restrictions
- Non-transferable (you cannot transfer or sell this license to another party)
- Copyright remains with The Wall Archive (photographer retains legal authorship)
Best for: Premium branding, publishing, and unique creative projects
2. General Restrictions (apply to all licenses)
Regardless of license type, you may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the original digital image file
- Use images in a defamatory, obscene, or illegal way
- Claim ownership or authorship of the image
- Remove or alter any watermark without permission (preview images will always contain watermarks)
3. Copyright and Ownership
- All images remain the copyright property of The Wall Archive
- A license grants usage rights only, not ownership
- By purchasing a license, you are acquiring specific rights as outlined above, not the copyright itself
4. Payment and Delivery
- All licenses must be paid in full before download
- Files are delivered digitally via secure download links
- Exclusive Rights purchases will result in the immediate removal of the image from further sale
5. Refund Policy
- Due to the nature of digital products, all sales are final
- Refunds or exchanges are not offered once an image has been downloaded
6. Legal Jurisdiction
- These terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom
- Any disputes will be handled under UK legal jurisdiction.
Summary for Customers
Personal = private use only
Editorial = non-commercial publishing with credit
Commercial = business, marketing, merchandise
Exclusive = full rights, no further sales
