This antique lithograph print from Cassell’s Poultry Book features a stunning pair of Pile Game Chickens, bred by Mr. Joseph Colgrove. These exceptional birds won multiple first prizes, with the cockerel taking 1st Prize at Crystal Palace and Birmingham in 1886, and the hen (the mother of the cockerel) winning 1st Prize at the Dairy Show in 1885, along with five other first-place awards.

Pile Game chickens are a striking breed, characterized by their tall, athletic build, sharp features, and contrasting white and red plumage, making them highly prized in exhibitions.
